Ruth Raupita

Maangai a rohe – Tainui

Māori Women's Welfare League

A descendant of Rongomaiwahine of Nukutaurua and Te Heipora of Heretaunga, Ruth is proud to have been raised in Wairoa, Hawke’s Bay, by grandparents who guided and supported her formative years. Now based in Kirikiriroa, she contributes to her hapori with the same dedication and intergenerational mindset that shaped her upbringing. For over a decade, Ruth has served her community through the Maori Women’s Welfare League (MWWL), and this year steps into a new role as the elected Area Representative for Tainui Rohe, drawing on her experience as an active member of her marae and a leader grounded in grassroots initiatives. Her leadership is guided by the long view: honouring those who came before while laying pathways for those who will follow.

Ruth’s approach is deeply rooted in whakapapa and collective uplift. She believes every decision today shapes the wellbeing of tomorrow’s community. Her mahi focuses on creating spaces where others can rise, ensuring that knowledge, opportunity, and influence are shared rather than held. She brings a steady, future-focused voice to every kaupapa, inviting leaders to consider the long arc of their impact and the generations who will inherit it.
